The Observational Job Shadowing (OJS) program component is designed to support the successful integration of IERMTs into the Canadian healthcare system through structured observational learning and mentorship opportunities. The program provides meaningful exposure to Canadian MRT workplace culture, healthcare practices, interprofessional collaboration, and professional standards. This helps participants develop core professional competencies aligned with Canadian practice expectations.
Through guided observation, reflective learning, and mentor support, the OJS program helps participants build confidence, strengthen professional readiness, prepare for the CAMRT national certification exam, and develop meaningful professional relationships and networks that support successful workforce integration and long-term career growth.

Observational Job Shadowing program at a glance
- Participate in a structured 15–25-hour observational experience within a Canadian healthcare setting
- Observe MRT workflows, interdisciplinary collaboration, and clinical practice in action

How you can participate in the Observational Job Shadowing program
The OJS program involves two key participant groups: IEMRTs and Clinical Partner Sites. Both play an important role in supporting observational learning and integration into Canadian MRT practice.
Participate as an IEMRT
IEMRTs interested in the OJS Program may apply through the NEBP. Once accepted into the NEBP, participants will be invited to complete an OJS-specific form to provide information that supports appropriate matching with a clinical partner site.
Register your Clinical Partner Site
Clinical partner sites interested in participating may express their interest by completing the NEBP OJS Program interest form. Once connected with the program, sites will provide relevant information to support appropriate matching with participating IEMRTs.
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants upon successful completion of this component.
