Micro-Certificate Program

The NEBP e-Learning Micro-Certificate Program offers three online, asynchronous learning courses designed to support IEMRTs strengthen the foundational knowledge required for Canadian MRT practice. These flexible, self-paced modules complement peer mentorship and observational job shadowing by reinforcing key concepts and supporting readiness for clinical practice and the certification pathway.

The courses are designed to support IEMRTs in developing the knowledge, skills, and professional judgment required to provide safe, effective, compassionate, and ethical care within the Canadian healthcare system. They complement experiential learning by reinforcing key concepts introduced through mentorship and job shadowing opportunities. Overview of course curricula

Course 1: Safety in MRT Practice

Focuses on essential safety principles in Canadian clinical environments, including radiation safety, MRI safety, infection prevention and control, and safe practice standards. This course includes discipline-specific safety modules tailored to different MRT practice area.

Equip IEMRTs with the knowledge and skills to ensure a culture of safety across all MRT disciplines.

Course 2: Care Provider

Focuses on person-centred care, communication, professionalism, cultural safety, and ethical practice within the Canadian healthcare context. This course is applicable to all MRT disciplines and emphasizes transferable competencies across practice areas.

Enhance IEMRT readiness to provide safe, ethical, and compassionate care across diverse clinical settings in Canada.

Course 3: Application of Image Analysis in MRT Practice

Introduces core principles of image analysis and digital radiography and CT, supporting clinical reasoning and foundational imaging assessment skills. This course is tailored to reflect the unique image analysis responsibilities across MRT disciplines. This course provides a shared foundation with discipline-specific applications across MRT practice areas.

How to access the Micro-Certificate program courses

To access the NEBP e-Learning Micro-Certificate courses, participants must first apply to the NEBP. Upon acceptance, participants will receive access to their CAMRT online profile and the Learning Management System, along with further instructions on registration and course access.

What to Expect

Once a Learning Management System (LMS) account has been created, participants will have access to all 12 online Micro-Certificate modules that make up the three courses.

The modules are available for self-enrolment, allowing participants to enroll in the modules required for their individual learning pathway.

Before beginning each module, participants will complete a pre-assessment. The pre-assessment is not graded and does not affect progress or final results. It is used solely to measure baseline knowledge before participants begin the module.

After completing each module, participants will complete a post-assessment. The post-assessment is used to measure learning outcomes and evaluate the overall effectiveness of the Micro-Certificate Program.
