Program Requirements, Eligibility & Application
The National Experiential Bridging Program (NEBP) is an optional, national bridging initiative that provides tools, resources, and experiential learning opportunities to support Internationally Educated Medical Radiation Technologists (IMERTs) in addressing credential recognition challenges, increasing familiarity with the Canadian healthcare system, and strengthening readiness for Canadian MRT practice.
Eligibility criteria for the National Experiential Bridging Program
You may be eligible to participate in the NEBP if you are an Internationally Educated Medical Radiation Technologist (IEMRT) that is:
→ Residing in Canada
→ Eligible to write the CAMRT certification examination; or
→ Have successfully passed the CAMRT certification examination

Steps toward Canadian MRT practice
Internationally Educated Medical Radiation Technologists (IEMRTs) follow a series of steps to become eligible to practice in Canada. Understanding this pathway can help you prepare for certification, integration, and participation in the NEBP.
- Explore the profession: Learn about MRT roles in Canada, including employment opportunities, workplace expectations, and provincial or territorial healthcare systems. Resources such as the CAMRT website can help guide your research.
- Apply for credential assessment: Submit an application to CAMRT to have your academic and professional credentials evaluated against Canadian standards. This includes providing required documentation and supporting materials. Credential assessment processes may vary by province or territory.
- Complete credential verification and assessment: CAMRT will assess your education, qualifications, work experience, and language proficiency to determine your eligibility for certification.
- Challenge the national certification exam: Once deemed eligible, you may challenge the CAMRT National Certification Exam, which assesses your readiness to practice as an MRT in Canada.
